Ghana’s media conglomerate, Media General, has made a giant leap in this year’s Radio and Television Personality Awards with a total of 18 nominations in 15 categories.
The Media General Group, which has since last year spread its media tentacles across the nation, is up against seven others for the Media Group of the year award.
The Media General Group currently consist of TV3 Network Limited, Adesa Productions, MG Digital (3news.com) and MG Radio (3FM, Onua FM, Connect FM, Akoma FM).
One of the flagship programmes of TV3, New Day is competing for two awards in the categories of TV Programme of the year and TV morning show of the year.
TV3’s Bright Nana Amful and Paa Kwesi Asare are up for the TV male caster of the year while Portia Gabor and Nana Akua Asare are competiting for the TV female caster of the year.
TV3’s Sports Editor, Michael Oti Adjei is nominated for the TV Sports show host of the year while Matilda Asante Asiedu and Akosua Ago Aboagye (Woman 2 Woman) have been nominated for the TV current affairs show host and TV development show host of the year respectively
The flagship news of TV3, News 360 is competing with seven others for the TV news programme of the year while TV3’s Ghana’s Strongest is up for the TV reality show of the year, with Shirley Frimpong Manso’s Shampaign on TV3 competing for the local TV series of the year.
Fast Break, one of TV3’s sports shows, is up for the TV sports programme of the year.
For Media General Radio, Onua FM’s Christian Agyei Frimpong and Gabby Arko have been nominated for the radio entertainment show host and radio gospel show host of the year.
3FM’s Mariam Osei Agyemang is competing for the radio mid morning show host of the year.
The RTP Awards recognises outstanding media personalities who exhibit exemplary leadership towards building a vision and a future for Ghana’s media platform.
It also awards media institutions and programmes that have demonstrated an outstanding track record and impacted on society during the year under review
This year’s award, which is the 6th, will take place on Saturday, October 22, 2016 in Accra
