Rapper Samuel Adu Frimpong, professionally known as Medikal, has announced that his upcoming show in London will be at the O2 arena following a sold-out performance at the Indigo O2. The ‘Omo Ada’ hitmaker had a successful show at the 2,750-capacity venue on May 3, 2024. Speaking in a phone interview with MzGee on United Showbiz, he disclosed that the number of fans who couldn’t enter exceeded those who attended, prompting him to seek a larger venue.
Medikal stated, “My fans didn’t come on time and I don’t blame them. Some people went to work and their off time didn’t favor the show. All these are lessons learnt. I now know that the next time I will play a show in London it will be a very big venue because this venue was too small for the show I had. I honestly had no idea it will happen like it did. We would’ve opted for a bigger venue but at the end of the day we had a good show.”
Reflecting on the experience, Medikal expressed surprise at the turnout and emphasized the need for a bigger venue to accommodate his enthusiastic fanbase. He noted that many fans missed out due to the venue’s limited capacity and expressed disappointment at their inability to attend.
He added, “For this recent event, the patrons who had to stand outside were way more than the ones who got the chance to come in which is very bad because most of my fans in London wanted to see my performance. I was hurt that some people couldn’t enter.”
When asked about the next London show, he confirmed it would be at the O2 arena to ensure everyone can enjoy the performance without overcrowding issues. He stated, “The next venue I’ll play a show in London will be the O2 Arena because we need a very big stage so that everyone will be able to come and have fun. I wouldn’t want people to rush to the event only to stand outside.”
The O2 arena has a capacity of 20,000 people.
