There was drama at the studios of Onua FM in Accra when a woman believed to be in her late 40s came all the way from Kumasi with the intention of getting her message of marriage to VGMA/BET award winner Sarkodie.
The woman arrived in a commercial Nissan mini bus, which contained her belongings: dresses, palm oil, plantain sucker, charcoal, coal pot, cooking utensils among other things.
Delivering her message to Onua 95.1 FM‘s Anigye Mmre, the woman who gave her name as Obaa Yaa said she came all the way from Kumasi in the Ashanti Region to meet Sarkodie – known in private life as Michael Owusu Addo – for friendship and marriage but was told it will be difficult to meet him.
When she was further asked if she indeed loves Sarkodie, she said ‘Yes’.
She said she is ever ready to marry him, the reason why she has all her belongings.
She was quick to admit that she has not seen Sarkodie in person, but she will be able to make him out any time she sets her sight on him.
The driver and “mate” of the 16-seater Nissan mini bus who wanted to remain anonymous said they were disappointed about the whole scenario.
According to the driver, he was on his normal working routine when Obaa Yaa approached him to take her to Accra. He charged her GH¢ 600 and she negotiated for GH¢ 500 which he agreed.
“We left Kumasi around 1:20pm Thursday; on our way she said she is coming to meet someone at TV3. When we arrived at TV3, we met a young man at the entrance who told us Sarkodie is not around, but we can still go inside for enquiry,” the driver narrated.
Obaa Yaa sadly had no money on her to pay the driver when they arrived, telling them she thought she will meet the “Obidiponbidi money no bi problem” man to pay for the transportation cost.
