Management of Accra-based Montie FM has rendered an apology to Chief Justice Theodora Georgina Wood and the judiciary in general over the death threat issued by two of its panellists.
Alistair Nelson and Godwin Ako Gunn went on air to threaten to murder the justices hearing the Abu Ramadan/Evans Nimako Vrs EC case, saying if the verdict goes against the latter they will attack the justices.
The matter was taken up by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) while the two have since apologised.
In court on Tuesday, July 5, the Supreme Court summoned the owner of the radio station and the two panellists.
But before the owner and the two National Democratic Congress (NDC) activists appear, Montie FM says it has banned the two from appearing on all of its programmes.
“Management will ensure that in future, panellists who appear on the programmes of the station are circumspect in their diction to avoid a repeat of the regrettable occurrence,” an apology letter issued by General Manager Mutala Mohammed said.
“We will continue to operate as a law abiding corporate citizen of Ghana and will not condone any action that will tend to undermine the administration of justice in the country that we all love so much.”
It says sanctions have even been levelled against the host and producer of the programme on which the threats were spued.
