The standard bearer of the main opposition party, Nana Ado Dankwa Akufo-Addo, may have taken a swipe at President John Dramani Mahama and his administration in faraway Italy, tagging the NDC government as being clueless and confused, but back home in Ghana the governing NDC is not taking kind to the description at all.
One of such incensed members of the National Democratic Congress is the Deputy Research Officer of the governing party, Peter Boamah Otokunor, who said Nana Addo needs to go back to Oxford University for more tutelage in governance and management.
According to the Deputy Research Officer of the NDC, who was responding to Nana Addo’s comment on news and current affairs program Ghana Dadwen on Onua 95.1FM, said the NPP flagbearer’s comments may have been directed at his party rather not the President John Dramani-led administration, asking how can a leader of a political party without a substantive National Chairman, General Secretary and 1st vice, have the effrontery to tag a ruling party that is doing everything possible to better the lives of Ghanaians.
“Asempa, I was surprised when I heard Nana Addo saying all that about our president, if there is any leader who is clueless, then it is him Nana Addo, not the performing President and his ministers. What messages has he (Nana) got for the electorates, if he does not understand those two words (referring to cluelessness and confused), then I advise him to go back to Oxford,” Otokunor told the host Bright Kwesi Asempa.
The 2016 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo whiles addressing a town hall meeting in Modena, Italy on Saturday on Day-2 of his visit to that country, noted that the unending social and economic crises that have hit Ghana is because the Mahama-led administration has over the last seven years proven to be corrupt, incompetent, indecisive and confused.
According to him President Mahama and his ministers of state are totally confused and clueless about the way the Ghanaian economy should be run, citing what he described as a conflicting explanation from both the President and his Minister of Finance over directives on the taxation of allowances and pensions.
He added that they are enough testaments of how Ghana has been run to the ground by a clueless government.
“President says one thing; the Finance a minister says another. So who is telling us the truth? Are we going with the Finance Minister or with the President? There is complete confusion in his government,” he told the gathering of mostly NPP members.
But Mr Otokunor averred that the three-time flag bearer of the NPP could not be solely blamed for his attempt to run the government down for political reasons but rather people like Gabby Otchere Darko and the rest of management members of the flagbearer.
“When you have people like Amfo Kwakye who is being penciled down to become the Chief of Staff for Nana Ado and Gabby Asare Otchere Darko managing and writing speeches for him, what do you expect Nana to say? Nothing. He will only go onto the tangent of attacking President Mahama in order to save face. I now seriously believe these people are not ready to rule this country.”
Enumerating achievements of President John Dramani Mahama, Otokunor, as he is popularly called, mentioned the newly commissioned Komenda Sugar Factory, the Eastern Corridor road project, and many other such projects, construction and refurbishment of health facilities across the country, building of 200 free SHS, and many other projects and policies being implemented in fulfilment of ‘Changing Lives and Transforming Ghana’ agenda.
He condemned Nana Addo and his destructive nature in diverting attentions.
“Yes can’t you see how he (Nana) is destroying the NPP, so if they are given the mandate, do you know what they will do to this country. He and his running mate are always talking about competence, but where is their competence when their party is tearing into pieces? They should first put their house in order then Ghanaians can take them seriously.”
