The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo has picked nominations forms to officially contest in this year’s elections. He joins about 5 other parties including the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and some independent candidates who have also picked forms.
The forms were picked on behalf of Nana Addo, by the acting General Secretary of the party, John Boadu at the head quarters of the Electoral Commission. He raised issues with the GHC50,000 filing fee announced by the electoral commission indicating that it was “expensive”.
This would be Nana Addo’s third attempt at becoming Ghana’s president on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party. The party is yet to launch its campaign and manifesto but has made some promises it intends to deliver if given the nod by Ghanaians to manage the affairs of the country.
Three of the campaign promises are One Village – One Dam, One Factory – One District, and one million dollars per constituency for effective development.
The NPP’s keenest contender, the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has downplayed the feasibility of the NPP’s promises.
