“We Will Choose How We Demonstrate and Who We Partner with at the Right Time” – IMANI Africa President Responds to Yvonne Nelson’s Dumsor Vigil Call

0

The President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, turned down Yvonne Nelson’s request to organize another Dumsor protest similar to the one she led in 2015.

Venting her frustration on the X app, the actress accused the Akufo-Addo-led administration of lacking the determination to tackle the issue and of taking Ghanaians for granted.

In response to Nelson’s plea, Franklin Cudjoe acknowledged the validity of her call but clarified that IMANI Africa would hold its own demonstration at a later date. He emphasized the think tank’s consistent pressure on the government regarding its flawed decisions and ineffective governance. Cudjoe stressed IMANI’s independence in planning the demonstration and encouraged others to organize protests across various venues to urge the government to take prompt action.

Cudjoe posted on Facebook: “We have heard the call by the redoubtable Ms.Yvonne Nelson for round two of #dumsormuststop. Fair call even as we (IMANI) have maintained our criticism of government’s  bad decisions for what often seem like a rudderless leadership, the latest dumsor episodes being the zenith.

“So as you can see ( T-shirts), we are preparing and we will make the call and choose how we demonstrate and who we want to partner at the right time. Meanwhile, others can also organise their own unique protests in churches,  mosques, bars, schools and homes .#DUMSORMUSTSTOP   Kofi Bentil  Selorm Branttie Bright Simons”.

Meanwhile, Bright Simons, Vice President of IMANI Africa, criticized Nelson for not highlighting the organization’s work in the energy sector until now, suggesting that she only engaged when the longstanding issues they had pursued became personal for her.

Kanye West Set to Launch Yeezy Porn Studio

0

Kanye West is reportedly gearing up to launch a Yeezy Porn studio, marking a surprising move after acknowledging a past struggle with pornography addiction.

The 46-year-old rapper, who previously expressed remorse over the impact of adult entertainment on his family, is now believed to be involved in his wife Bianca Censori’s revealing fashion choices.

A representative for Kanye has informed TMZ of his intention to expand his Yeezy brand into adult entertainment, potentially as soon as this summer. He is said to be in discussions with adult film producer Mike Moz, formerly married to Stormy Daniels, to oversee the studio.

Despite longstanding considerations, Kanye is now reportedly in serious negotiations to establish the studio.

In a 2019 interview, Kanye opened up about his early exposure to pornography and its lasting effects, describing himself as a porn addict. He later attributed the industry to causing turmoil in his family life, amidst a public dispute with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian over their children’s schooling. The couple, who share two daughters and two sons, ended their marriage in February 2021 after years of speculation about its stability.

“IMANI Didn’t Organize Any Vigils” – Bright Simons Responds to Yvonne Nelson’s Call for a Second ‘Dumsor’ Vigil

0

Vice President of IMANI Africa, Bright Simons, firmly rejected actress Yvonne Nelson’s call to address the ongoing power crisis, known as “dumsor”.

The actress made her plea via a post on the X app, inviting IMANI Africa to collaborate on a vigil reminiscent of a 2015 protest she led. However, Simons clarified that IMANI Africa was not directly involved in organizing the ‘dumsor’ vigil in 2015. During the tenure of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) under former President John Dramani Mahama, Yvonne Nelson, along with several industry figures including musicians and actors, led a similar protest in 2015.

Miss Nelson expressed her frustration over the current situation in a post on X, calling for collaboration to organize the vigil and attributing its success to IMANI. However, Mr. Simons clarified that the 2015 vigil was organized by pressure groups, not IMANI. He noted that IMANI has diligently engaged with relevant stakeholders on various power supply issues, but the actress has not amplified any of their work.

Simons questioned why Nelson has not supported or shared IMANI’s efforts, stating, “We’ve been chasing ECG, pursuing CWM matters, fighting over gas value chain issues (a la Genser), probing power tariff proposals, highlighting IPP debt buildup etc. I’m afraid I’ve never seen Ms. Nelson amplify any of that work. Ever. Not even a retweet. Now, why is that?”

He added: “Except that IMANI didn’t organise any vigils. They were organised by pressure groups. Pressure groups are not permanent institutions. Ghana’s problems require long-term consistent advocacy best suited to INSTITUTIONS. Do YOU support such institutions? Does Ms. Nelson?”

Yvonne Nelson Calls on Imani Ghana for a second #DUMSORMUSTSTOP vigil

Actress and activist Yvonne Nelson is rallying for a second vigil to address Ghana’s ongoing power crisis.

Renowned for her participation in the 2015 #DumsorMustStop campaign, Nelson has recently conveyed her disappointment with the current government’s approach to the situation on her X platform.

In her post dated April 22, 2024, she implored Imani Ghana, a civil society group, to unite for a fresh demonstration, acknowledging their past contributions. Nelson criticized the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and President Nana Akufo-Addo, accusing them of neglecting the concerns of Ghanaians.

“Imani Ghana, can we organize another vigil? I’ve been waiting for you to reach out like you did years back. (your team made our demo a success) I’m reaching out myself. The NPP and its leadership @NAkufoAddo have taken Ghanaians for granted. #DUMSORMUSTSTOP.”

The hashtag #DUMSORMUSTSTOP, which gained traction during the online protests against inconsistent power supply, is now resurfacing as the actress pushes for action. Her appeal mirrors the increasing discontent among Ghanaians concerning the ongoing energy challenges plaguing the nation. The repeated power interruptions, known as “dumsor” locally, have disrupted both businesses and daily routines since late 2023, intensifying in 2024. Although government officials claim that these outages do not signify “dumsor,” numerous citizens beg to differ, pointing out parallels to the crisis witnessed in 2015.

Meanwhile, government officials have brushed aside the need for a timetable to manage the ongoing outages, intensifying public frustration. Minister for Energy, Matthew Opoku Prempeh, went as far as challenging proponents of a timetable to devise one themselves.

“The Akufo Addo/ Bawumia government will go down in history as the worst government ever” – Joyce Bawah Mogtari

0

Special aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has asserted that the current Akufo-Addo administration will be remembered as the worst government ever in Ghana’s history.

In a post on her X platform, she emphasizes economic mismanagement resulting in joblessness and corruption as crucial issues.

Furthermore, she condemns the government for accruing a growing public sector debt with little to show for it.
