The Nkosuohene (Development Chief) of the Zongo Community in the Ashanti Region, Alhaji Abdullahi Ali Barry has heaped praises on Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his role in the peace and stability of the kingdom and Ghana.
He said Otumfuo’s reign as the King of the Asante Kingdom continues to be beneficial to the people of Ghana and beyond.
He pledged support from the Chiefs of the entire Zongo Community in the country to help the Asantehene continue to use his position to transform lives and pursue national development.
Alhaji Ali Barry made the remarks when he joined a host of Chiefs from Zongo communities in the Ashanti Region to attend the last Akwasidae Kesse of the year at the Manhyia Palace.
He thanked Asantehene for granting other Chiefs from Zongo Community the opportunity to attend and celebrate the Akwasidae event.
Expressing his appreciation to Asantehene, Alhaji Ali Barry added that “This is the last Akwasidae of the year and I have decided to come with other chiefs from the Zongo Community to grace the occasion. We can only thank Asantehene for the exemplary leadership he has always shown”.
He also urged Ghanaians to pray for leaders of the nation to enable work to better the lives of the citizenry.
The Chief of Zongo in the Ashanti Region, Sultan Umar Farouk Saeed lauded Asantehene’s role in fighting against illegal mining activities.
He indicated that the continuous destruction of the environment by the activities of illegal miners retards nation deployment and all must endeavour to support the campaign to nip such activities in the bud.
Sultan Umar Farouk is also calling for a concerted effort by all to support the Government and relevant stakeholders in addressing the menace.
There was a rich display of culture at the Manhyia palace and dignitaries including Government appointees, politicians, and religious and traditional leaders graced the occasion.
