The paramount chief of Saboba has dared the New Patriotic Party to show any infrastructural development it undertook in the area that should warrant the vote of the people for the party.

According to the chief, Inchanbo-bor Cheek Binalibemi, the eight-year period that former President Kufuor ruled the country on the ticket of the NPP, the people of Saboba did not witness any development in the area.

“Under the entire eight years of the New Patriotic Party, not even a single block was added to the Saboba Hospital,” he said in a speech read on his behalf during President John Mahama’s tour of the area.

Inchanbo-bor Binalibemi, however said “under the National Democratic Congress, the hospital has seen tremendous expansion and resourcing,” aside other developments the people have witnessed in the area.

He said under the Mahama-led government, about 50 communities have been connected to the national grid.

Also, the Yendi-Saboba-Chereponi and Yendi-Wampuli-Chereponi roads have been awarded for construction. There is also the construction of a Community Day Senior High School in Wampuli, and the supply of water to some communities that hitherto had no potable drinking water.

These projects among others, the chief said, was a manifestation of the good works of the Mahama government.

Meanwhile, he  has appealed to the President to upgrade the Saboba Hospital to a District Hospital for an improved quality healthcare.

He also wants a bridge constructed over River Oti to facilitate the movement of goods and services to and from the Republic of Togo, as well as expand the Saboba Water System.

President Mahama in his response, announced a two-kilometer extension of town roads within the district.  This he said, would improve on the road network in the district.

He also announced contract has been given for the Saboba -Wampuli road,  which he said would be given a bitumen surface, and also promised to upgrade water system in the area to meet the rising demand.

President Mahama noted the tour was not to campaign but to thank the people for their unflinching support to the National Democratic Congress, adding the NDC is optimistic of the support of residents in the district.

“People in Saboba are dear to the NDC, we are here to thank you and let you know that we have not taken advantage of you but we appreciate your support,” he told the people.

President Mahama  also encouraged farmers in the area to register with the farmers’ service centers which is constituted assist farmers with subsidized farm inputs and machinery.
