The Spokesperson for former President Jerry John Rawlings has warned the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), to desist from what he termed as “sakawa campaign”.
A computer generated graphics and flyers with the image of former President Rawlings and the campaign slogan of the NPP as well as its colours started circulating on social media over the weekend in an attempt to robe in Mr. Rawlings in the sentencing of 3 contemnors.
Former President Rawlings was alleged to have said those who are signing the petition book for the release of the Montie trio should be taken to psychiatric hospital for examination.
But Mr. Kofi Adams said the comments and flyers were orchestrated by the NPP and certainly not from the NDC and its founder, former President Rawlings.
“These kind of sakawa campaign must not be tolerated”, Mr. Kofi Adams, who is also the National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), told Onua FM’s Yen Sempa hosted by Bright Asempa on Monday.
“The former President is worried about lies because if you use lies to fight for power, you can’t do anything for the people even if you win. Former President has not endorsed you but you have used illegal means to portray as if he has endorsed you which is worse than 419. It is fraudulent so the NPP should desist from such acts,” Kofi Adams emphasized.
NDC launches campaign in Cape Coast
Meanwhile, Kofi Adam has confirmed that the NDC will launch its campaign in the Central Regional Capital, Cape Coast on August 14.
He said the people of Cape Coast and the Central Region in general supported the NDC to win power so it is important for the NDC to honour them with the launch.
