Electoral officers in Northern Region have resolved to continue the verification and exhibition exercise after assurances that their concerns over allowances will be looked into.

According to the leader of the officers, Braimah Azazi Damba, they met with officials of the Electoral Commission who assured them that the problem will be resolved in Accra by Monday.

The officers supervising the ongoing verification of voters – in the exhibition of the voters’ register – had threatened to boycott the exercise claiming the GH¢400 paid to them for the duration of the exercise was inadequate.

According to Mr. Damba, they commence work at 7:00am and close at 5:00pm without break.

He told TV3’s Zakaria Abdul-Kadiri in an interview on Thursday that the officials at the Commission said the disparity was budgeted for and efforts would be made to ensure that their petition is addressed in Accra.

Separately, TV3’s reporter says turn-out in the verification exercise at various centers in the Region have been low though the officers have been at post.
