Leaders of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) on Tuesday evening engaged in hot exchanges at the premises of TV3, leading to the firing of gunshots.

One group of ‘executives’ was invited for TV3’s late night news, News @10 but a rival group suddenly stormed the premises of the television station to prevent the officially invited executives from holding themselves out as leaders of the Union.

The situation degenerated into hot exchanges resulting in chaos, which caused the Police to fire warning shots to restore order.

But for the timely intervention of the police officers stationed at the Flagstaff House, the disagreement would have turned bloody.

The officially invited leaders, who are said to be the legitimate executives, arrived at the entrance of TV3 at Adesewa, Kanda in Accra, to meet the rival group who had arrived earlier with two machomen. The machomen prevented the legitimate executives from entering the premises for the news interview.

The uninvited group, then, pulled ‘higher’ strings which saw some police officers come to the scene to confront the machomen.

But officers stationed at the presidency came to the scene to round the machomen up, albeit not after firing warning shots.
