The International God’s Way Church has responded to the viral video in which its head pastor, Daniel Obinim, is seen whipping two of its congregants for fornicating, warning it will not tolerate negative criticisms.

In the 2.59-minute video, the apparent furious Obinim did not understand why a young boy, whose father had died, was still in school and being looked after by his mother, would have sex with an equally young girl who is learning a vocation.

The video has since Wednesday gone viral on social media where some Ghanaians have criticised the pastor for resolving to punish the two in a manner many have described as assault and against the human rights of the two.

Justification

But a statement issued by Joseph Osei Oppong Brenya, media aide to Obinim, said the Church will “not tolerate any negative commentaries on the said video without any attempt to understand the content before.”

The statement urged the public ” not to take it on the surface but seek to understand what really happened .

“We have observed that some people with evil Agenda are using the video to castigate and spread false rumors about the Founder and General Overseer of International God’s Way Church,” it said.

However, the statement failed to state “what really happened” which it wants the public to seek.
