Former Ghana Premier League campaigners Okwahu United will play in the finals of the 2016 MTN FA Cup for the first time since losing to Hearts of Oak in 2000.
The Asaase Aban boys made it to the finals after beating Liberty Professionals 3-1 on penalties. Their semi-final match had ended 1-1 in full regulation time.
Goal poacher Latif Blessing opened the score at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium before McClean Ampadu equalized in the 63rd minute for United.
The winner had to be decided on penalties, which were eventually won by the Eastern Region side.
Prior to the run into Sunday’s semi-finals Okwahu United had beaten other Premier League sides like Dreams FC, Sekondi Hasaacas and WAFA.
The finals will take place at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium, where they face top-flight side Bechem United.
The Premier League side dispatched Wa Rockets 2-0 in the other semi-final encounter also played on Sunday.
The finals will be played on Sunday, August 28.
