The Ashanti Regional Police Command has scheduled a meeting with the Tafo Traditional Council over the brewing tension in the area.
On Tuesday, August 2, youth of Old Tafo marched to the chief’s palace demanding ammunitions to defend themselves against their Zongo counterparts, whom they accuse of furtively attacking them after the fatal clashes in February.
The youth, most of whom are indigenes, demanded adequate security from the police and even called on the Asanteman Council to intervene.
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Nathan Kofi Boakye, is expected to calm tempers at the meeting to be held at the chief’s palace.
