Filipino senator Manny Pacquiao is making a return into the rings after complaining he cannot rely on his salary as a public official.
“Boxing is my main source of income,” he said.
The former eight-division world champion is billed to fight welterweight champion Jesse Vargas in November after retiring in April.
He was elected to the Senate of the Philippines in May but appears to find the income insufficient.
“I’m helping the family of my wife and my own family, as well. Many people also come to me to ask for help.”
He is expected to embark on a promotional tour in Los Angeles from September 8-10.
He says he would return to Manila straight after the promotion.
