The much-anticipated bus rapid transport (BRT) system is being piloted in Accra from Monday, September 26.
Almost 100 buses are currently parked at the Achimota Bus Terminal for the five-day pilot.
The ‘Ayalolo’ buses come with USB ports to every seat and free Wi-Fi.
An electronic system will be the mode of ticketing.
Passengers will enjoy free rides during the five-day piloting period.
The Amasaman-Tudu corridor will be used for the exercise.
About 40 passengers will have the comfort of sitting while a few number can stand in the buses. Enough provision has been made for the disabled both on the buses and getting out over the curbs.
Marketing and Public Relations Officer for managers Greater Accra Passenger Transport Executive (GAPTE) Roland Bruce dismissed reports that the buses are not insured.
“All the buses are insured,” he stressed on Midday Live on Monday.
He said the exercise is to solicit views from passengers ahead of a full implementation.
