Over 300 electoral flashpoints have been identified in the Northern Region, the Police in the region have revealed.
The Northern Regional Police Commander, DCOP, Ken Yeboah said these were areas identified by the Police alone and that they were waiting for the Electoral Commission to also provide them with a list of areas they have identified as the possible flashpoints in the 2016 general elections.
He told host of Onua FM’s Yen Sempa, Bright Asempa that the three northern regions have been identified as high trouble areas when it comes to elections.
DCOP Yeboah said enough police personnel have currently been deployed to the various flashpoints ahead of the elections likely to be held on December 7, adding “more personnel would be added during the elections”.
Touching on the recent heavy rains in the region , he said “we went round with helicopter yesterday and the flooding was heavy,” adding that several farmlands have been destroyed by the floods that hit the area.
