The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested three men suspected to be armed robbers.

Names given as Stephen Bediako, 30, Kwaku Nuworkpeh, 35, and Abass Fuseini, 23, the three men are said to have embarked on a number of crimes in Teshie, a suburb of Accra.

Addressing journalists on Monday, August 29, Regional Commander ACP Timothy Yoosa Bonga said the suspected criminals on August 24 met at Teshie and conspired on a robbery expedition.

Armed with two locally manufactured pistols and a pump action gun, they laid ambush and attacked their victim at the Cosmos Forex Bureau.

An alarm was immediately raised but the three took to their heels in different directions, firing at the crowd that had massed up following the alarm.

Some called in the police, who arrested the robbers in a bush near Manna Mission Hospital.

ACP Bonga said upon a search on them, two locally manufactured pistols, one pump action gun, a short gun, 13 rounds of Lion cartridges and a sack containing GH¢4,388 were retrieved.

Preliminary investigations, the Assistant Commissioner of Police said, revealed that the three had robbed a shop of GH¢11,000 and two mobile phones on July 30 and had also robbed Cocoa Palace Lodge of one laptop, five mobile phones and an unspecified amount of money.

They will be arraigned before court as the police continue investigations.
