All 11 regional commands of the Ghana Police Service have been directed to suspend motor checks “with immediate effect”.
In an internal circular sighted by 3news.com on Tuesday, October 4, only traffic management duties will be carried out by the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) of the Service.
Lower divisional commanders have, as a result, been directed not to issue any permits for motor check duties.
“The Highway Patrol Units are only to check for arms/ammunition and drugs,” the police wireless message directed.
“No vehicle documents and drivers licenses are to be inspected by highway patrol personnel.”
