Auntie Muni, a renowned seller of waakye, (Ghanaian local delicacy made from rice and beans) has reportedly passed away.
According to report reaching us, the celebrated waakye seller died today, Wednesday, January 3, 2023, at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) in Accra after battling a short illness.
Auntie Muni’s son Arafat on behalf of the family confirmed the sad incident to Accra-based Asaase Radio, speaking to Benjamin Offei-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show today said her mum will be buried in Tamale, in the Northern Region, on Wednesday, January 3.
“Mummy was sick, she was complaining of pain, so we took her to the SNNIT Hospital…., there were complications, so she asked that they discharge her.”
“When they discharged her, after two days, we realized she was still not feeling well. So we rushed her to the University of Ghana Medical Centre for medical attention and this morning at 3 am she passed away,” Arafat reportedly said.
Auntie Muni had one of the popular Waakye joints in Accra with a lot of clients.
