Highlife singer, Samuel Owusu, has offered a crucial advice to budding musicians.
He advised aspiring musicians to pursue a side hustle alongside their music careers, emphasizing the importance of not relying solely on music.
In an interview with Amansan Krakye, Owusu stresses the potential risks of relying solely on music as a career. Leveraging his extensive experience in the industry, Owusu advises aspiring artists to pursue education and diversify their skills by engaging in trades or seeking alternative sources of income.
“I’ll advise any young person who wants to do music to go ahead and do it but they shouldn’t rely solely on the music that they are doing.” “Apart from music I have other businesses so whenever someone comes to me that they want to do music, the first question I ask is, are you educated and what’s your level of education?” He quizzed.
Owusu’s guidance is rooted in practicality, urging the new generation to blend their musical passion with a strategic approach for a more secure and rewarding career.
“They can go ahead and pursue their music career but they should find a job or side hustle that they can rely on because with music alone they might end up disappointed,”he added.
