A Kenyan female prisoner Wanjiru Kamande has been crowned Miss Langata Prison 2016 after she beat 19 other contestants.
The pageant was organized in an effort to support the rehabilitation of female inmates of the prison.
Wanjiru first made headlines when her ‘crime of passion’ story was aired. She is alleged to have stabbed and killed her boyfriend 22 times with a kitchen knife, following a cheating accusation after she supposedly went through his phone and found suspicious text messages.
Wanjiru is currently standing trial for her alleged crime.
