Sparkplug Ghana organizes career seminar for GIJ students

Sparkplug Ghana, a leading campus group from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) committed to empowering students and the youth towards achieving greater heights in life has empowered over 200 students from the institute with its ground-breaking educative seminar aimed at preparing students for the corporate world.

The group is providing a unique platform to engage, motivate and mentor students to be creative and innovative. Dubbed “LET’S TALK,” is a 1-day workshop held at the school campus on September 20, 2016 under the theme: “Career Guidance”. This is the second initiative of the group’s event since inception a year ago.

According to CEO of Sparkplug Ghana, Miss Anabelle Ayorkor Agbemadon, the rationale behind the initiative was geared towards helping students champion the course of creating their own career and also  bring to light the  need to place premium on leaving first good  impressions within the business world.

Various speakers at the seminar charged students to be serious minded and committed towards developing their own career to be able to make it in life.

gij-seminarVice President of Chamber of Commerce, Italy Nii Amaa Ollennu, who spoke extensively on the topic “how to plan one’s business” admonished  students to be humble, plan wisely and make judicious use of  precious time to be productive in life. “You need to plan your life, you need to plan your business…think fast and act fast” he stressed.
The inspiring event also witnessed the launch of the Ollennu Scholarship scheme; an initiative of Nii Amaa Ollennu who doubles as the CEO of La Villa Boutique Hotel and Olma Colonial Suits. It is aimed at supporting “exceptionally brilliant but needy students” in the Institute.

A lecturer at GIJ, Ms. Rodaline Amartey who shared insight on the importance of ‘First Impression’ advised participants to avoid improper dressing and maintain high level of decorum in physical appearance, speech and behavior in order to leave the good impressions about themselves at all times.

Meanwhile CEO of Prime Shades Limited, Miss Sheila Enuson, adding her voice to numerous calls made by different speakers during the event, urged participants to be good communicators and reporters in any field of work they found themselves.

The event was supported by PZ Cussons, Minister for Transport Fifi Kwetey and Joy Industries Limited.
