Sulley Muntari wants a return to the Black Stars after his apology

Youth and Sports Minister Nii Lantey Vanderpuye believes Sulley Muntari deserves a second chance with the Black Stars after he apologized for his part in Ghana’s disastrous world cup campaign in 2014.

The Saudi-Arabia based midfielder has been ostracized from the Black Stars since he assaulted management committee member Moses Armah at the height of the bonus row that disrupted Ghana’s campaign in Brazil.

He has since apologized, claiming recently that he would be willing to represent the country again after his two-year absence.

And Vanderpuye feels he deserves that opportunity.

“I have heard his statement of apology and I think to some extent it is the right thing he has done. He is a Ghanaian who has realized that what he did in some way was improper and he has apologized and said I am available anytime you want my service, for me it is a good thing he did so it is up to the coach to decide if he need him or he doesn’t need him,” Vanderpuye told TV3.

“I believe in second chances and I believe he is sincere with that apology because his colleagues have come out and defended him as well and I believe he has talk to them.”

Ghana coach Avram Grant has not ruled out a return to the team for Muntari and could now pave the way for the return of one of the most divisive figures in the game into Black Stars duties.
