Medical staff of the West Gonja District Hospital in the Northern Region have threatened to lay down their tools following an alleged attack on some staff of the on Sunday by two suspects in a theft case.

A nurse of the hospital whose motorbike was stolen by the alleged thieves, and his brother were said to have been assaulted by the two suspects who have been granted bail.

The said attack, and the stealing of another motorbike belonging to another nurse at the Hospital premises, has provoked the medical staff who threatened to cease attending to patients if the two suspects are not re-arrested.

A meeting between the Hospital authorities and the Police is currently ongoing to find solution to the issue in order to avoid a strike by the staff who say they do not feel safe while the two are on bail.

Hajia Fuseini, a staff of the Hospital confirmed the threat of the staff to 3News said the stealing of the motorbike took place on Thursday, August 11 in the nurse’s house.

Motorbikes theft on the premises of the West Gonja District Hospital has been on the rise in recent time with about five motorbikes stolen with two weeks.
