Stop demanding Mahama's removal and select running mate – lecturer

Dr. Edward Mahama

Edward Mahama 3fmA political scientist, Dr Edward Brenya, has asked the People’s National Convention to focus on the selection of a running mate instead of the demand for the removal of its presidential candidate.

The Greater Accra Regional Executives of the party are demanding the removal of Dr Edward Mahama barely four months after his election. They have accused Dr Mahama of being inefficient in leading the party, but he has since dismissed the claim.

Speaking to 3FM,  Dr Brenya who is a lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah university of Science and Technology said  it is very crucial for the party to elect a running mate if the party wants to make an impact in the December 7 general elections.

“The way things are going doesn’t augur well for the party. I think at this time, leadership should engage him in a dialogue to encourage him to get a running mate which is more crucial but not to call for his replacement’’, he said.

He believes the call for Dr Mahama’s removal smacks of mischief and a cause for worry, noting it is likely to affect their chances of the party in making impact during the elections.

“If the members are feeling the flag-bearer is not working up to what they expect, they should dialogue with him to go on the right path. The move is a mischievous one looking at the time left [it] might spoil their chances of making an impact in 2016 elections,” Dr Brenya said.
