Supporters of Dr. Sarpong, Queenmother clash over sanitation exercise

A Community called Daaban in the Nhyiaeso constituency was turned into a boxing arena during the recent sanitation day exercise.

The supporters of the Queenmother of the community, Nana Yaa Asantewaa and former mayor of Kumasi Dr Samuel Sarpong clashed when the Queenmother prevented Dr Sarpong, who is also the National Democratic Congress Parliamentary candidate for Nhyiaeso constituency, from partaking in the sanitation exercise.

Some residents in the community who are alleged to be supporters of the Queenmother entered their homes and came out with machetes, hoes and other offensive weapons to chase out Dr Sarpong and his team.

Dr Samuel Sarpong and his team were therefore compelled to move to the next community called Sokoban, where they peacefully accomplished their mission.

Dr Sarpong in an interview with Akoma News, however said he was not perturbed, scared or demoralized by the actions of the Daaban Queenmother, Nana Yaa Asantewa. He promised to ensure that the Nhyiaeso Constituency is free from filth.

The Assembly member for Daaban electoral area, Isei Tutu a.k.a Old Soldier, also condemned the attitude of the Queenmother describing her action as anti-development.

Meanwhile 150 NPP Youth on Saturday declared their support for Dr Samuel Sarpong during the Sanitation exercise at Sokoban.

According to them, Dr Samuel is a dynamic politician and a unifier who can champion the development of Nhyiaeso.

The Youth who were coming from Patase in the Nhyiaso constituency called on their colleagues to join them to push Dr Sarpong to parliament in order to bring development to the constituency.

The CEO of State Housing Corporation, Dr Samuel Sarpong donated four (4) packets of roofing sheets to Sokoban community for the ongoing renovation of the Sokoban community center.
