TGMA Updates: O’Kenneth & Xlim Kid, Amerado Nominations Adjusted

The board of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) has made adjustments to the nomination lists following a one-week window for errors and omissions.

After the announcement of the nominations on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Center (AICC), some artists expressed displeasure as their hit songs did not appear in certain expected categories.

In response, the board granted a one-week grace period for artists to register their grievances, receiving several submissions from the stakeholder community. After careful evaluation, the board confirms that there were no errors or omissions in the nominations list, except for two categories.

Initially filed as a featured work, ‘Lonely Road’ by O’Kenneth & Xlim Kid was revealed to be a joint project by both artists. Therefore, the nomination was corrected to reflect its category. Additionally, Amerado’s ‘Kwaku Ananse‘ remix was nominated in the Best Highlife Song category instead of the original version, affecting its consideration in the Most Popular Song of the Year category.

However, upon further review, the original version met the criteria and has been nominated in the Most Popular Song of the Year Category.

In a press statement dated April 15, 2024, the Board reiterated its commitment to fairness in the Telecel Ghana Music Awards scheme.
