The Police have arrested two of three men who allegedly robbed and raped a woman believed to be in her 40s at her residence at Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.

They have been identified as 30-year-old Danteni Bugri from the Kpatia-Talensi District and 42-year-old Baba Sally from the Bolga Municipality.

A third accomplice, whose name was given by the Police as Nabil Mohammed, is currently on the run.

According to the Bolgatanga Police Command, the three suspects on September 20 took advantage of a downpour in the municipality to break into the house of the victim at an estate in the area.

They were said to have robbed the victim of GHC1,000, a computer tablet and two mobile phones after which they allegedly raped her.

The Police say the three then escaped but with the help of the youth in the neighbourhood, they were able to arrest Bugri from a drinking spot.

Upon interrogation he admitted the offence but claimed it was Mohammed who raped the victim. He named Sally as their accomplice in the crime.

Sally, an electronics repairer, according to the Police, is the person who has been buying the items from the armed robbers in the area.

DCOP Simon Afeku told TV3 the police command in the region is investigating the case further, noting the Police have been able to cut miscreants in the region to their sizes.
