The Northern Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, have made a u-turn on the venue for the Karaga Constituency primary.

The primary to elect a replacement for Shahawari Bashiru who resigned as a candidate on health grounds has been sent back to Karaga Constituency following a meeting between a delegation from the party and the elders of the traditional council.

The venue for the primary was moved to the Savelugu Constituency to prevent unforeseen circumstances that may mar the process since elections in recent times in the Karaga Constituency have witnessed some chaos.

3news.com gathered, a meeting held on the eve of the election day had a delegation from the New Patriotic Party assuring the Karaga Chief Mahama Adam and the entire constituency of a violence-free process.

The Northern Regional Communication Director of the party Abdul Kudus confirmed the u-turn adding “we have resolved what could cause chaos and supporters of the various candidates have assured us of adhering to the rules and accepting the outcome”.

Four hundred and forty four delegates are expected to exercise their franchise by voting for one of three candidates, namely, Suleman Ibn Shaibu, Wahab Wumbei and Fidaus Basha vying for the Parliamentary Candidature.
