Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) has organized a business seminar for vendors of the Osu Night Market on 23rd May, 2016.
The seminar is in line with the bank’s strategy to expand its SME banking services to the informal sector of the economy.
Relationship managers from the Business Banking department of UMB outlined some of the Bank’s bespoke SME products and they also discussed how UMB can assist them to grow their businesses and to manage their resources in a more efficient manner.
UMB’s Head of Business Banking, Mr. Ernest Tetteh, stated that UMB is consistently looking for innovative ways to help SMEs to become more competitive and profitable.
“It is estimated that more than 86% of all employment in Ghana is in the informal sector which is largely comprised of sole proprietors. This seminar is an indication of our commitment to grow this important sector of the economy by providing them with relevant products and capacity building resources.”
The Director of Marketing and Communications at UMB, Ms. Yvonne Botchey also stated that “our aim is to enhance their already well developed business acumen and to be a partner that will assist them to take their businesses to the next level.”
