Update: Nurses in West Gonja declare strike

Doctors suit 1

An indefinite strike action has been declared by the Association of Registered Nurses and Midwives in the West Gonja District of the Northern Region Monday.

This follows an emergency meeting held Monday Afternoon.

The nurses and midwives are calling for the rearrest of two suspects who were granted bail at the West Gonja District Police Headquarters after police investigation led to their arrest for stealing a motorbike belonging to a nurse of the Damongo Hospital.

The suspects upon their bail on Thursday August 11, 2016 attacked the nurse for causing their arrest.

The nurses and midwives are bent on not performing their duties if their superiors at the National Headquarters fail to intervene.

The two suspects have since fled the district.
