Veteran actor Kofi Middleton Mends has passed on, 3news.com has gathered.

Close sources said he died on Tuesday at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. He was 77.

It is unknown what the cause of the death is but the actor was said to be unwell.

He is popularly known for his role in movies such as ‘No Tears for Ananse’ in 1968 and quite recently in ‘Grey Dawn’ (2015).

Kofi Middleton Mends spent 30 years as lecturer in Film Directing at the National Film and Television Institute.

He was a recipient of the 2014 NAFTI Film Lectures Awards.
