President Mahama says he “can’t think far, he can’t think madness” for Dr. Bawumia and other critics of the economy who have deliberately painted a gloomy picture about the country.
According to President Mahama, “interest rates are coming down, inflation is coming down, the cedi is one of the best performing currencies in Africa this year… if somebody says the country is going back, eno na migwe hua, mintiasi3 no… I can’t think far, I can’t think madness, but I know that it is propaganda.”
The president’s comments come on the back of countless criticisms from the opposition New Patriotic Party about government’s handling of the Ghanaian economy.
In a funny reponse, the president used the popular phrase by Ghanaian actor and comedian, Kwadwo Nkansah known in showbiz circles as Lil Win.
The President and government spokespersons have consistently downplayed the attacks on the economy by critics insisting that a solid foundation has been laid for a smooth take-off of the economy in the coming years.
President Mahama was addressing students of the University of Ghana in Accra.
