Programs Director of Plastic Waste Management Program, Ghana, has mentioned political interference and victimization as the main factors militating against cleanliness in Accra.
According to Mr. Quaranchie Adama-Tettey, this has undermined the enforcement of sanitation laws.
Waste Management is a big challenge in the capital, Accra. The Ghana Audit Service reports that the Accra Metropolitan Assembly spends more than half of its annual budget on waste management.
Speaking on the Accra Series on 3FM’s Sunrise morning show, Mr. Adama-Tettey indicated that the AMA has competent engineers with the right plans to get the situation rectified.
However, Mr. Adama-Tettey noted that what they lack is the courage to implement those beautiful plans.
He therefore called on the authorities to allow the technocrats to address the situation devoid of political interference.
He is confident Accra can be made clean if the system is allowed to work.
The Accra series on 3FM,92.7’s Sunrise morning show is a national dialogue on the state of the Capital City and the way forward.
