The Minority caucus in Parliament has assured that it will not relent on its efforts in holding the Akufo-Addo government accountable.
The Minority further assured that they stand with Ghanaians in these difficult times of cedi depreciation, high prices of goods and fuel.
The Minority in a statement ahead of the budget presentation, signed by the Minority Leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu assured, “we wish to assure the Ghanaian people that we stand with them in these difficult times, and we will not relent in our efforts to hold the managers of the economy to account”.
The statement added that they will continue to hold accountable the Finance Minister and other government appointees for the ailing economy.
It stressed that it will resist any efforts by the government to impose additional hardships on Ghanaians.
“We are mindful of our duty to carry oversight on the Executive and preserve the interest of the Ghanaian people, whose livelihoods the Akufo-AddoBawumia administration has severely undermined through mismanagement of the economy,” the statement added.
Both the Minority and majority in Parliament have all called for the removal of the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, over the country’s economic woes.
The Minority in an ongoing censure motion has levelled some allegations against the Finance Minister.
The Finance Minister is expected to read the budget on Thursday, November 24, 2022.
