Convenor for the Pensioner Bondholders Forum, Dr. Adu Anane Antwi is hopeful that Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta will announce an issuer’s exemption for pensioner investors from the domestic debt exchange programme during his presentation to Parliament today.
The pensioners are in Parliament to witness an interaction between Parliament and the Minister who has been invited to answer questions pertaining to the DDEP.
Dr. Adu Anane Antwi says the Minister’s promise to consult the president on their demands gives them assurance that the exemption will be granted.
“We are going to support the Minister to do what is right for us. We believe our presence here will have the needed influence. The Minister told us he would run our petition by the President, and so we are counting on him. If it does not happen then we will blame it on the President.”
