Nigerian Afrobeats star, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun famously known as Wizkid, has finally opened up about the pain he is going throught in his life after losing his beloved mother.
He described this loss as the most profound and deepest pain he has ever endured in his life.
“The pain is profound. It hurts deeply. The deepest pain I’ve ever felt in my life,” Wizkid said at his mother’s wake-keep ceremony on Thursday.
Wizkid’s mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, died on August 18 in London. She was a formidable cornerstone of strength for her son and lent unwavering backing to his meteoric rise in the industry.
Wizkid’s first public appearance since his mother’s death came on Wednesday when he attended a candlelight procession in her honour.
In 2014, Wizkid dedicated the song “Mummy Mi” to his mother on his album “Ayo.” In the song, he sings about all the joy she gave him, and promises to spoil her with the finest things in life.
