3FM 92.7 has introduced a refreshing Sunday afternoon musical programme dubbed Beatz Africa designed to celebrate the African continent and its rich musical culture.

Beatz Africa first aired on Sunday, May 29 on 3FM with the regular host of the mid-morning show Urban Blend, Miriam Osei Agyemang, who thrills listeners with soothing African music from across the continent.

Highlighting on what listeners should be expecting from her as she takes over the airwaves every Sunday between the hours of 3pm and 5pm, Miriam emphasized the importance of African music in the society and stated that Beatz Africa is designed to bring African nationals living in Ghana together.

“Beatz Africa is a two-hour show on 3FM and a musical show with a difference in the sense that we noticed that music from Africa is crossing boundaries and at a fast pace particularly Beatz Africa and that is because it’s more urban and youthful and what better way to celebrate the continent in its rich musical culture than to create a show that will become a world stage for Afro Beat and so that’s how come there’s Beatz Africa.

“What Beatz Africa will do is to unite the African continent through music so on a typical show, we will play a mix of different Afro beats from different parts of Africa and we will intersperse it with some profiles of about three countries. So, we will pick say Nigeria and do a profile of Nigeria and then speak to Nigerians in Ghana to sell Nigeria to us from their opinion or their perspective and then we will have a Top 10 trending of latest Afro Beatz on the continent and then also we are using this as a platform to bring together as many African nationals in Ghana.”

Miriam further went on to lay emphasis on 3FM’s mid morning show Urban Blend describing it as a ‘feel good’ show.

“I call the Urban Blend a mid morning companion and it’s the kind of show that gives you the energy to work when you are in your office or when you are going about your normal activities between the hours of 10am – 2pm.

“It’s two shows put into one because from 12pm – 2pm, we call it the Midday Flavor which is a mid tempo kind of a show and so after we’ve kept you going on high energy music from 10am – 12pm, we now let you settle in and prepare to let you wrap up your day with mellow soothing songs from 12pm – 2pm.

“Aside the music, we inform, we talk about lifestyle related issues and we pick on topical issues and make it more of a social topic . For instance we will talk about how to save money, how to ensure unity in your office, social institutions and stuff like that.

“It’s a feel good show for the one who is urban and one who is contemporary as well as one who appreciates music”.
