Adisadel College wins the contest for the first time

Adisadel College put up a consistent performance by maintaining a Round 1 lead to win the final of the 2016 National Science and Math Quiz.

The win is the first for the Santaclausians, having lost last year’s final to Prempeh College.

Also known as the Zebra Boys, Adisadel College jumped to the lead after Round 1 with 19 points. Their regional rivals Mfantsipim School trailed in second with 18 points while Ashanti Region’s Opoku Ware School was third with 14 points.

Adisco did not lose grip of their placing in Round 2 scoring 25 points with Mfantsipim – also known as Botwe  – and OWASS – also known as Akatakyie – scoring 24 and 22 points respectively.

The tricky round of ‘True or False’ saw the Santaclausians still keeping the one-point gap with each finalist getting 13 more points.

While Botwe could not add to their points in the final round, Adisco got six more, putting them at 44 points, and Akatakyie had three more, putting them at 38 points and leapfrogging Mfantsipim.

This year’s contest is the 21st edition.

By virtue of winning the contest, Adisadel College takes home GH¢40,000 while the contestants and their teachers get GH¢15,000.
