The Black Stars will have a long battle with Egypt and Uganda after the three were drawn in the same group for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Gabon.

The three sides will be joined by Mali in Group D of the tournament, which begins on January 14, 2017 and ends on February 5, 2017.

Ghana, Egypt and Uganda are already entangled in the fight for qualification from Group E for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The group will be based in Port-Gentil.

The last time Ghana met Egypt and Uganda in the tournament was in the finals in 2010 and 1978 respectively.

While the Black Stars lost 0-1 to the Pharaohs in the finals of Angola 2010, they beat the Cranes 2-0 in Accra to win the Ghana 1978 final.

Ghana last played Mali in the AFCON 2012 3rd place play-off, losing 2-0 to the Eagles.

The Stars go to next year’s tournament as a losing finalist, having lost the Equatorial Guinea 2015 final to neighbours La Cote d’Ivoire on penalties.

Find below all the groups:

Group A: Gabon, Burkina Faso, Cameroon and Guinea Bissau

Group B: Algeria, Tunisia, Senegal and Zimbabwe

Group C: Cote d’Ivoire, DR Congo, Morocco and Togo

Group D: Ghana, Mali, Egypt and Uganda
