President John Mahama is relishing a one-on-one debate with Nana Akufo-Addo as the right platform to floor and expose “misinformation” being peddled by the latter.

The president earlier this year threw a challenge to the opposition leader for a debate on his stewardship and who is the best person to lead Ghana.

“I stand by it”, he told Volta Star Radio in an interview Thursday as he reignited his call for the debate in the Volta Region.

“I believe that Ghanaians deserve a debate between myself and Nana Akufo-Addo, and I hope that they will respond to that and rise to the occasion,” he taunted Akufo-Addo who is making his third attempt at the presidency.

President Mahama explained that the need for the debate has become necessary because the largest opposing New Patriotic Party has been poisoning the minds of electorate with misinformation.

electionscommand“I threw the first challenge because a lot of misinformation was being thrown all over the place.

“And Nana Akufo-Addo and his running mate (Dr. Bawumia) continue to misinform the Ghanaian populace.

“That is why I said let’s have a one-on-one debate, if we have our one-on-one debate, we will all have our statistics and figures, and Ghanaians would be able to see who is telling the truth and who is not telling the truth”.

He hoped the opposition party would respond favourably to his call and provide proof that the economy is in crisis.

“We will wait and see if we will get a response,” President Mahama said as he bide his time for that historic encounter.
