Actress and social media sensation, Rosemond Alade Brown, also known as Akuapem Poloo, has strongly rebuked her social media followers for voicing their opinions and criticizing her lifestyle.
Despite having recently returned from Mecca, where she performed the Safah and Marwa rituals, she has reverted to posting pictures of herself online wearing revealing clothing and engaging in online arguments, insulting others in the process.
In a recent Instagram video, she can be seen singing to Shatta Wale’s ‘On God’ while wearing a knee-length white dress with long sleeves. However, she opened the zipper in the front, revealing her cleavage and brassiere. Additionally, the lyrics of the song contain explicit language.
Some of her followers have expressed concern over her behavior, particularly regarding Islamic principles of modesty. They noted that Islam does not condone indecency, especially considering that Ramadan ended just days ago and Rosemond, also known as Haniya, should be basking in the spiritual fulfillment of her pilgrimage. Despite claiming to have adopted a more modest lifestyle since her return, her actions suggest otherwise.
In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz after her return from Mecca, she spoke about her transition to wearing abayas and covering up, indicating a change in her lifestyle. However, her behavior on social media seems to contradict her statements.
Some commentators have even accused her of hypocrisy, questioning her sincerity in practicing the religion given her apparent disregard for its principles.
Additionally, some followers pointed out a previous incident where she declined to hug a male customer who had bought honey from her, citing religious reasons (considered haram). She shared this incident herself on her page. Yet, she is now seen online dressed immodestly and singing lyrics deemed unholy, which has sparked criticism
Poloo responded to these criticisms by engaging with some comments, often using offensive language to express her disagreement.
