Akufo-Addo’s ‘1-district, 1 factory’ just a dream -PPP

Dr. Nduom (R) cautions electorate against vague promises

Nana - Nduom

The Progressive People’s Party says Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo lacks the track record to execute his plan to construct a factory in each district of the country.

Describing the plan as a ‘grandiose dream’, the PPP argues Nana Akufo-Addo and his New Patriotic Party have failed to offer concrete terms to support the said plan.

“It is another election year and Nana Akufo-Addo is at what he knows best; promising heaven, when indeed his own disposition and track-record do not in any way measure up to the grandiose dream of offering nationwide factories as President,” the PPP said in a statement Thursday.

The statement signed by the Director of Communication of the party, Paa Kow Ackon, questioned Nana Addo’s competence, claiming that if it came to electing someone with demonstrable talents to lead Ghana from unemployment, “certainly that cannot be Nana Akufo-Addo”.

It said though Akufo-Addo’s pedigree in law is not in dispute but when it comes to creating jobs, then the obvious choice for Ghanaians is Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, who the PPP says has created over 5000 jobs in Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Togo, Liberia, Burkina Faso, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

“No one seems to be asking Nana Akufo-Addo how he intends creating these jobs. Perhaps like his carbon copy tactics where he has virtually usurped every Nduom idea like the Separation of the Attorney General’s Department from the Ministry of Justice and election of MMDCEs, Akufo-Addo is waiting to hear Dr Nduom’s take on job creation, and presto, he will make it his own,” the statement said.
Free SHS

The PPP claims the free SHS plan by the NPP in the run-up to the 2012 election was a mere political rhetoric because for the PPP, the proposition was untenable, and asked: ” How can a child benefit from free SHS if they cannot afford JHS education?”
