The Atuabo Gas Processing Plant is scheduled to undergo a mandatory shutdown from Wednesday, August 31.
The shutdown is expected to take 10 days.
A statement issued by the Ghana National Gas Company on Monday said the shutdown is simply to conduct a maintenance operation on the equipment.
Equipment manufacturers and vendors are required to do such on a periodic basis.
“It is also to facilitate warranty assurance on the installed equipment and the validity of our operating insurance cover.”
The Atuabo Gas Processing Plant has been in operation since 2014. Engineers estimate the operation hours at 12,000, which require a maintenance exercise.
The Volta River Authority (VRA), which is the primary downstream lean gas off-taker, and the other off-takers as well as upstream gas supplier Tullow Ghana Limited are expected to be kept in the know about the maintenance exercise “to ensure a smooth implementation and completion of the planned maintenance works”.
