CPP’s National Youth Organiser Ernesto Yeboah says the decision smacks of “disorder”

The National Youth Organiser of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Ernesto Yeboah, says he will ignore the “decision” by the party to indefinitely suspend him.

According to him, he has not received any official correspondence over last Thursday’s decision, which also announced the indefinite suspension of the General Secretary, Nii Armah Akomfrah.

“Their excuse cannot be the long holiday that followed their decision, for our service to the party is via volunteering; hence holidays actually presented them ample time to do the right thing,” he said in a statement on Monday.

Mr Yeboah announced that he will be in the office on Monday, July at 10:00am for his routine work and in his capacity as the leader of the Youth League.

He described as a “disorder” and “impropriety” how those who decided to suspend him could not follow due process.

Mr Yeboah and Mr Akomfrah were suspended on Thursday, June 30 for holding a varying position on the Ford Expedition car saga involving President John Dramani Mahama.

The party’s flagbearer, Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, had justified the decision by President Mahama to accept the car gift while the two elected national officers had condemned it with Mr Yeboah further petitioning the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) for clarification.

“So the question remains, what is the CPP’s official position on the said Ford Gift to President John Dramani Mahama?” Mr Yeboah wondered in his statement.

“All these developments point to a certain lack of clarity which does not bode well for the CPP. As a youth dedicated to my party and Ghana, I shall not allow myself to be dragged into indecision, when the party’s ideology and administrative systems are clear.”

He said he will continue to work for the party.
