CPP’s suspension of Gen. Sec, Youth Organiser unfortunate – Jinapor

CPP suspend Akomfrah & Ernesto

A senior lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba, Dr. Ahmed Jinapor, has described as unfortunate the decision taken by the Convention People’s Party (CPP) to suspend its General Secretary and National Youth Organiser.

The Party suspended General Secretary Nii Armah Akomfrah and National Youth Organiser Ernesto Yeboah after they publicly condemned President John Mahama for accepting a gift.

The flagbearer of the party, Ivor Greenstreet, had earlier suggested he didn’t find it out of place for a sitting president to receive a gift.

Some political pundits have described the decision by the CPP as dangerous for the party with barely five months to the general elections.

Dr. Jinapor in an interview with 3news.com, described the decision as unfortunate.

“At the end of the day, if these two gentlemen beyond reasonable doubt did not do something within the remits of morality and expected to do and did not do it right then I will say it’s the right course.

“I think investigations are still going on and I personally believe that the investigation should be given the opportunity to run its own course.

“It’s becoming too much in our political dispensation and especially when it comes to the position of the General Secretary because the General Secretary is the Chief Executive Officer of the party so if a General Secretary is suspended then reservedly, I will say it’s an indictment on the people who elected him”.
