Ghanaian businesswoman and socialite Diamond Appiah was re-arrested by the police moments after the Circuit Court in Accra had discharged her in a case involving an alleged fraudulent land transaction.
Appiah was arrested and charged with defrauding Ayisha Modi of $30,000 for a parcel of land that did not belong to her. She pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail of GHc300,000.
On August 21, 2023, the Attorney General’s Office signed by Chief State Attorney Mrs. Evelyn Keelson filed a Nolle prosequi in the case, which means that they were dropping the charges against Appiah.
But as soon as she was discharged from the court, she was rearrested by the police.
The reason for the re-arrest is not yet known, but it is possible that the police are investigating other charges against Appiah.
