The driver of the Hyundai truck, identified by registration number GS 9018 – 20, was apprehended by the Ghana Police Service on suspicion of causing the accident on the Tema-Mpakadan railway line involving the recently imported train. This incident occurred during a test run of the train, which had just arrived from Poland.
In an official statement, the police stated that their initial investigation found the driver had left the vehicle unattended on the railway line, resulting in a collision with the train. Allegedly, the truck driver had gone to deliver cement blocks, and the vehicle became stuck on the rail after failing to pass through a passage under the bridge.
